After receiving your new tattoo, you will have a bandage applied to your tattoo before leaving our studio.
We recommend leaving your bandage on for 24 hours. Depending on your location, and style of tattoo, your artist may ask that you leave your bandage on for 48 hours.
During this time you may have exudation which is the extrusion of fluids that consist of blood, plasma, and pigment which is normal!
When it is time to remove your bandage, gently peel the bandage off by pulling it slowly from the edge back over itself. Avoid pulling upwards and away from your skin.
After removing your bandage (with clean hands), wash your tattoo with antibacterial soap (preferably scent and color free) with your fingers. Gently wash away debris and bacteria.
After washing, allow your tattoo air-dry for 10-15 minutes.
After your tattoo is dry (with clean hands) apply your aftercare product to the tattoo to help protect and heal your new tattoo.
Acceptable aftercare products we recommend are Recovery Aftercare lotion/salve, Lubriderm, Eucerin, or a general white, unscented lotion.
Apply your aftercare product as needed. Try to keep the new tattoo as moisturized as possible. Apply it to your new tattoo any time it dries out. This could be 6-8 times a day.
You will need to wash it twice a day with antibacterial soap, and applying the aftercare product after each wash. Apply your aftercare product as needed throughout the day for 2-3 weeks after the day you take off your bandage.
